Blaze Your Own Trail to Self-Love Open House

Curious about Blaze Your Own Trail to Self-Love? Join our open house to learn about the program, meet members of the community, and start your week inspired and refreshed!

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

🧭 Guided Self-Discovery

Every workshop features an interactive activity rooted in self-reflection, bonus mindfulness practices and resources (guided meditations, interviews with experts, book recommendations), journal prompts, as well as space to reflect on your hikes.

🧭 Hiking as a Mindfulness Practice

In each workshop, we give you a Mindful Miles Prompt - something to meditate on while you’re hiking solo, or to talk about in your group if you’re hiking with other members in the program. We encourage participants to go for a hike once per week to reflect on the lessons learned in the program. You pick your hikes/walks based on what you’re comfortable with, there is no mileage or difficulty requirement.

🧭 Community Connection

We’re all coming to the table with our own lived experiences and filters through which we see life, but one thing is for certain - we are more alike than we are different. By learning how to hold space for your fellow program participants, you’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice active listening.

When we slow down enough to hear what people are saying and give space for processing the information and understanding the messenger, we can oftentimes find some of our stories in the stories of others. This deepens our connection to self - affirming that we are not alone in our experiences - as well as our connection to each other.

ABOUT BLAZE YOUR OWN TRAIL TO SELF-LOVE

Welcome to Blaze Your Own Trail to Self-Love! This is where we lace up our hiking boots and venture deep into the wilderness of self-discovery, embracing an empowering mindset and the practices that will set your heart ablaze. Join Sydney and Barry Williams, your guides and fellow adventurers, as we navigate the rugged terrain of limiting beliefs, scale the mountains of self-compassion, and uncover the hidden treasures of self-acceptance. Together, we will forge a new path, igniting a fierce love for ourselves that will radiate through every aspect of our lives.

There's no right or wrong way to embark on this journey, the most important thing is to take the first step.

When you're on a hike, you don't magically appear at the summit, you get there one step at a time. Sometimes it's the hardest walk of your life. Sometimes you're skipping through a field of wildflowers. Either way, it can be transformational, but only if you allow yourself to have and reflect on the experience.

HEALING IS THE SAME WAY.

You don't arrive at the top of Healing Mountain, saved, rescued, recovered. On this Trail of Life, there will always be ups and downs, that much is certain.

Healing is a lifelong practice. There is no deadline to meet. This can't be done overnight. Really, all you can do is equip yourself with some tools to help you along the way.

And that should feel like a giant exhale.

Trail of Life Self-Reflection Workshop

Trail of Life Self-Reflection Workshop

✨ End your year with self-reflection and community!

Inspired by the cover of my book, the Trail of Life Maps workshop is our favorite way to end the year, and we want you to join us!

They say that hindsight is 20/20 and this workshop will give you a framework to reflect on 2022 and set intentions for the year ahead. As the foundational exercise for our Blaze Your Own Trail to Self-Love program, the Trail of Life self-reflection workshop is an exercise you can repeat whenever you need to take a minute to yourself to reflect on what life has dealt your way.

While this workshop was born out of my need to process trauma when I didn't have access to mental health resources, this framework is beneficial for any kind of reflection.

🎉 Have you had a great year? Let's connect the dots between all the good things that came your way so you can prioritize your joy in 2023.

⛈ Has this year been dark + stormy for you? While it might not have been sunshine and rainbows all year long, chances are there were some high points you glossed over when the other shoe dropped. By giving yourself time and space to see how all of life's events are connected, you can give yourself credit for making it through the hard stuff, and find ways to bring more sunshine into 2023.

This is a great opportunity to learn more about what we do at Hiking My Feelings, connect with our community of big-hearted adventurers, and carve out some time to yourself!

WHEN: Sunday, December 4 at 10am PT

WHERE: online via Zoom

HOW MUCH: $33 or Pay-What-You-Can

As a bonus, we'll give you immediate access to our Read + Reflect program for free! This program is the book's best friend and offers mantras, journal prompts, and more mindfulness resources to complement the book and help you start your self-reflection practice.

“If that is trauma, then everyone I know has experienced trauma.”

We hold the vision of a world where trauma isn’t a competition and anyone who has experienced trauma has access to the resources and support they need to heal in a way that feels good to them. While the worst day of my life may be dramatically different from the worst day of your life, we have at least one thing in common - that we’ve survived what the world has dealt us so far. We are of the firm belief that we are all way more alike than we are different, and by sharing our struggles with each other, we can co-create a safe space to bravely step into the lives we’ve always dreamed of living.

Curious about how to start your healing journey? Join us for our Trail of Life self-reflection workshop and get access to our Read + Reflect program for free!

Here's what you can look forward to:

  • Connect with our community of big-hearted adventurers

  • Learn how we use hiking as a mindfulness practice

  • Understand the benefits of a self-reflection practice

  • Learn how our foundational healing exercise - creating your Trail of Life Map - can help you find inspiration in the twists and turns life has dealt you so far, set intentions for the next chapter of your life, and integrate these lessons into every aspect of your life on and off the trail.

About Read & Reflect

Life happens fast, let us show you how to slow down enough to enjoy it. This self-paced program is the book’s best friend - demonstrating how mindfulness and intention can weave into every aspect of our lives. Through 18 modules, we extract the lessons from the trail, and offer rituals, affirmations, and resources to help you kickstart your self-discovery journey. Wellness Wednesday: Nurture Through Nature

Nurture Through Nature

Please join us on Wednesday, November 16th at 1:00pm for this month’s Wellness Wednesday, an event hosted by The Mind Collective – A Partnership between Alliant’s California School of Professional Psychology and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI San Diego & Imperial Counties). Our mission is to create heartfelt communications to help people navigate the world of mental health ideas, concepts, treatments, and realities.

Our vision is to promote compassion and understanding from education about mental health facts and lived experiences. By bridging the academic and professional viewpoint with the peer and lived experiences, a well-rounded and holistic healing opportunity emerges. This month, learn how nature has a huge impact on improving your mental health.

Speaker Bios:

Dr. Cheryl Fisher is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), licensed in Maryland, Arizona and Florida. She is a certified trauma specialist with over 20 years of clinical experience and has deployed locally and nationally with the American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Team and Maryland Responds Medical Corp. She is also certified in EcoPsychology from the Pacifica Graduate Institute. Her research interests include the intersectionality between human and more than human engagement.   She is an international speaker, columnist for Counseling Today Online, and author of Mindfulness and Nature-Based Therapeutic Techniques for Children. Her most recent writing project titled Coming Home: Finding Your Savannah examines the human- nature relationship and the narrative over time. Beginning with creation stories, Dr. Fisher discusses the evolution of change and disengagement from our natural stories, the physical, mental and spiritual implications of eco-detachment, the role of ancestral land/community and practices in wellness, and the importance of returning to our 'savannah'.

Sydney Williams is the author of Hiking My Feelings: Stepping Into the Healing Power of Nature and travels across the country empowering others to summit their personal mountains on their way to becoming Well Beings. Hiking My Feelings began on a mountaintop east of San Diego, CA in 2018 – a mantra, battle cry, and most importantly a replacement to the eating and drinking that had once been go-to methods for handling the reverberating emotions of lived trauma. Since that day, they’ve been on a mission to improve community health by creating opportunities for people to experience the healing power of nature. Find more information at www.hikingmyfeelings.org

This is a lively group and safe space with an interactive Q&A and discussion. Everyone is welcome!

We hope to see you there.
